The VW ID.Buzz combines iconic Bulli styling with modern electric mobility and is increasingly being discovered as a
base for compact camper conversions. With the STREETEC 'offroad&camping' air suspension kit, you can make your
electric Bulli even more versatile: variable ride height for city use, campsite leveling and light terrain, improved comfort with
changing loads, and a strong foundation for your individual camper build. Ideal for mini-campers, everyday vehicles with camping
ambitions, and urban adventurers driving electric.
The ID.Buzz as a mini camper
Much like the classic California based on the T6.1, the ID.Buzz stands for uncomplicated camping without compromises in daily use.
Compact exterior dimensions make it city-friendly, while the smart interior offers room for sleeping space, a mini kitchen, and storage.
Especially with conversions that see changing payloads—sometimes empty for city driving, sometimes fully packed for a weekend trip—a
variable air suspension pays off: the STREETEC kit automatically compensates different load conditions and consistently maintains
optimal driving behavior.
Impressive lowering for urban requirements
A standout feature of this kit is the extreme rear-axle lowering down to 320 mm—ideal for low underground garages,
multi-storey car parks, and tight city access. At the front axle, adjustment ranges from 400 mm to 510 mm, and at the
rear from 320 mm to 510 mm, measured from wheel center to fender edge. This wide range makes the electric Bulli
exceptionally adaptable: lowered for the city, normal for everyday driving, and raised for gravel or forest tracks while camping.
Smart design concept
The kit combines specifically tuned McPherson struts on the front axle with a rear air-bellow system that
continues to use the OEM dampers. This approach is cost-efficient and makes optimal use of VW’s proven damper technology. The
rear bellows enable precise leveling—particularly important on the ID.Buzz, where the underfloor battery already creates a distinctive
weight distribution. Additional loads from camper conversions, luggage, or bike racks are compensated with ease, keeping the vehicle in
an optimal position.
Optimized driving behavior for the electric drivetrain
The electric drivetrain places different demands on suspension than an internal combustion vehicle: the battery mass in the floor
lowers the center of gravity, while changing loads higher up have a stronger influence. The STREETEC air suspension balances this
dynamic effectively. The vehicle feels more stable in corners, shows reduced body movement during load changes, and maintains consistent
comfort—whether you’re driving solo through the city or fully loaded on the way to the campsite. Automatic leveling also supports
correct headlight aim, which is particularly important with LED headlights.
Target groups
Mini-camper owners
For compact camper builds or planned projects: level at the campsite without wedges, compensate roof loads, and enjoy more comfort
on long journeys.
Everyday drivers with an outdoor mindset
Variable ride height for every scenario: underground parking on Monday, a forest parking spot on Saturday—no problem.
Families with versatile needs
Consistently optimized comfort and handling as usage changes. Practical: deep rear lowering makes loading heavy items easier.
Urban campers
A strong compromise between city usability and camping flexibility: extreme lowering for tight car parks and variable ground
clearance for unpaved pitches.
